Smooth Angel Cafe, on the last Sunday of every month.

5. SMOOTH ANGEL CAFE

The Smooth Angel Cafe is an intriguing community event with a mission. The food is free, the drinks, the live entertainment is free — but they’re really all about the money! Well, that’s not quite true. All of their costs are covered by donation. And everything they make above cost gets donated to people in need, locally and globally. The Smooth Angel Cafe is a good vibes hotspot, so if you’re craving some soul-food, you’ll find it here as well as lots of other yummy stuff, and a great community of positive people. Read more.

4. EAT • MAKE • MEND • CELEBRATING TEXTILES

2:30pm Saturday, September 26th, 2015 at the Red Tree Specialty Coffee.

When I read about this event online I read a phrase that I really liked. "We are geared now, in the lush Comox Valley, to the slow food movement and this is our way of getting the slow clothes movement into the forefront.” Comox Valley is championing the local economy in terms of producing and consuming local food. Red Tree is extending that richness into the textiles industry. If you’re a textiles pro, or just interested in reshaping your wardrobe for a more sustainable future, then check this event out, be part of a world-changing movement! Read more...
